Professional Experience.
Dr. Vineet Sehgal is a Senior Consultant Neurophysician with international experience in clinical neurology across India and Australia. He is a leading neurologist of Punjab and has been successfully managing cases for more than 15 years now. He has got vast experience in diagnosing and treating Neurological disorders in adults and children.
Dr Vineet Sehgal has completed his MBBS and MD (Medicine) from Government Medical College & Rajendra Hospital, Patiala, followed by DM Neurology from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. A distinguished academician, he earned multiple medals during his MBBS and was the University Topper in MD Medicine.
He pursued advanced Neurology Fellowship training in Australia, gaining expertise in Stroke care, Epilepsy, Headache medicine, Neuroimmunology, and Clinical Neurophysiology. He is skilled in appropriate patient selection for intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular clot retrieval (ECR) in acute ischemic stroke. He has received advanced training in Australia in the comprehensive management of headache disorders, including the use of CGRP monoclonal antibody injections. He has expertise in the evaluation and management of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, with experience in disease-modifying monoclonal antibody therapies. He also specializes in the management of advanced Parkinson’s disease, including patient selection for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). In addition, he provides comprehensive epilepsy care, including a dedicated First Seizure Clinic. He is experienced in Botulinum toxin ( Botox) therapy for chronic migraine, post stroke spasticity and movement disorders.
Dr Sehgal holds the prestigious FRACP (Neurology), achieved by only a limited number of Indian neurologists, granting him specialist practising rights in both India and Australia. He has served as a Staff Specialist Neurologist in Australia and is currently an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Australian National University (ANU) School of Medicine and Psychology. He actively practises as a neurologist in both India and Australia.
He leads a state-of-the-art Neurophysiology Laboratory and runs dedicated clinics for Stroke, Epilepsy, Movement disorders, Headache, and Neuroimmunological conditions. He has pioneered a Stroke Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Clinic and established the region’s first advanced Neuroimmunology Clinic.
Dr Sehgal remains actively involved in research, conferences, and continuing medical education (CME). He has published in national and international journals and regularly delivers academic lectures for healthcare professionals and the public. His poster presentation on Epilepsy was awarded as first prize in National Neurogy conference IANCON 2014. He is frequently heard on Radio and seen on TV speaking about neurological conditions. Dr. Vineet Sehgal has passion for teaching and also actively conducts teaching courses for practising Physician and general practioners. Committed to social responsibility, he provides free and subsidised care to underprivileged patients and has received multiple academic, state, and corporate awards.
